Bio

Mrs. Allison Emanuel Weitkamp is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education in 2000, completed a double Master's degree in Music Education and Instrumental Conducting in 2003, and in 2004, completed a Rank 1 in Music Education.  During her graduate work at UK, she studied oboe with Nancy Clauter and conducting with Richard Clary in addition to serving as the Graduate Teaching Assistant for the UK Band Department. As an undergraduate, she was awarded the Ralph McCracken scholarship for Music Education and was later selected as the recipient of the Helton Memorial Acres Scholarship as a graduate student. Mrs. Weitkamp is employed by the Catholic Diocese of Lexington, where her teaching duties include 5th-12th grade band at Lexington Catholic High School, Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary, and Saints Peter and Paul Regional Catholic School. From 2002-2007, she taught applied oboe lessons at Transylvania University and at present maintains a small private studio of students.  Mrs. Weitkamp is the principal oboist for the Capital City Community Band, which is based in Frankfort, KY.  She was selected as the KMEA District 7 High School Teacher of the Year in 2009 and her professional affiliations include KMEA (Kentucky Music Educator's Association), NAfME (National Association for Music Education), and Sigma Alpha Iota Professional Music Fraternity. Mrs. Weitkamp is an ordained deacon of Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church, formerly served as an Assistant Children's Choir Director, presently sings in the choir, and rings handbells.  Mrs. Weitkamp resides in Lexington with her husband, Charles, and their children James, Julia, and Joey.
