George Ewen
George Ewen spent fourteen seasons with Lexington Catholic Football. Originally from Hazard, George graduated from Lafayette High School in 1965. He would graduate from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in Education. He would start to connect with Lexington Catholic as a Substitute Teacher.
George, along with his wife Kim and their daughter Andrea all are a part of the Lexington Catholic Family. George and Andrea worked as the videographers for the Lexington Catholic Football Team. But George was so much more than that. There were so many roles that he played for the young men on the team, year after year. From wise sage to Santa Claus, George would be there for you. He would always be there for any of us.
Many of us will always remember a simple message from George. Three one-syllable words that have power. When times are tough, or the day is dragging along. George’s words will speak:
FIND A WAY…
Monday, May 15, was a beautiful day for golf, friendship, fun all in support of Lexington Catholic! Everyone from golfers, sponsors and volunteers enjoyed a beautiful day. Principal Mathew George began the day with prayer and welcomed everyone, then Athletic Director Dave Nurnberg introduced our new football coach, Nick Baisch, and Executive Consultant, Rob Rumpke, introduced Kim Ewen. Kim is George Ewen’s widow, who said a few words about George and how much Lexington Catholic meant to him and their family. We appreciate everyone’s participation and support. We are looking forward to the 4 Annual George Ewen uKnight Cup in 2024.
